In addition, it aims to regulate the profession of health and safety providers by setting standards, as well as connecting members to resources and providing support, guidance and training.

    This course is designed for senior leaders and focuses on how leadership decisions influence health and safety performance across an organisation, rather than day-to-day operational safety tasks.

    Leadership sets the direction for safety culture. Decisions made at senior level influence behaviour, risk management and overall organisational performance.

    Aimed at directors, senior managers and leaders across all sectors who influence business decisions and are responsible for organisational performance, strategy and risk oversight.

    There are no formal entry requirements, however delegates should be working in or progressing into a senior leadership or strategic management role.

    How the Training Works 

    Q9. Is IOSH Leading Safely classroom-based or practical?
    This is a classroom-based leadership course including group discussions, case studies, scenarios, and guided theory-based learning ro explore leadership responsibility in real business contexts.

    Q10. Is lunch provided during the course?
    Lunch is not provided so delegates are advised to bring their own lunch or make use of nearby facilities. Training centres are equipped with a kettle, microwave and fridge if needed.

    Q11. What should I bring on the day? 
    Photo ID (Passport or Driving Licence) and wear comfortable workwear. PPE is only required for operational venues and will include safety boots, hi-vis, hard hat, gloves, eye protection, long sleeve top and full-length trousers. Delegates must contact us on 0345 605 0006 to confirm PPE requirements for their chosen training centre, as PPE compliance is required for access to live site locations.

    Q12. Is there parking available at the training centre? 
    Most of our training venues offer free on-site parking, although spaces may be limited. You’ll receive full parking details, including What3Words navigation, once your booking is confirmed.     Delegates complete a written assessment and produce an action plan based on their organisation's approach to health and safety leadership.

    Successful delegates will receive an IOSH Leading Safely certificate.

    Q15. How long is the IOSH certificate valid? 
    IOSH recommends completing the refresher every 3 years to keep knowledge up-to-date and maintain alignment with current health and safety practices.
