    Any business that uses CCTV to monitor public spaces or members of the public must have trained security staff who are qualified as CCTV operators and hold an SIA licence.

    This course is designed to provide delegates with the knowledge and understanding required to meet the requirements of current legislation to work as a CCTV Operator in Public Space Surveillance.

    The CCTV Course is split into two sections:

    Principles of Working in the Private Security Industry (72 Question Multiple-Choice exam and Practical Assessment)
    Principles and Practices of Working as a CCTV Operator in the Private Security Industry (40 Question Multiple-Choice exam and Practical Assessment)

    Topics covered include:
    • The main characteristics of the private security industry
    • The importance of safe working practices
    • Drug-misuse legislation
    • The purpose of CCTV systems
    • Surveillance techniques
    • Producing evidential documentation

    Both components must be completed and passed to enable delegates to apply to the SIA for their licence.

    This course is aimed at delegates wishing to obtain a licence from the Security Industry Authority (SIA) to work as a CCTV operator in public space surveillance.

    Upon successful completion of the Highfield Level 2 Award for CCTV Operators (Public Space Surveillance) in the Private Security Industry, delegates will earn a qualification that enables them to apply for their Security Industry Authority (SIA) licence to work as a CCTV operator.

    The certificate obtained is valid for three years.
    Delegates are required to renew their SIA licence every three years to continue working legally as CCTV operators.

    Delegates attending this course are required to have the following pre-requisites, as a minimum:

    Have English language skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening equivalent to the following:
    A B2 Level qualification on the Home Office’s list of recognised English tests and qualifications.
    A B2 Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
